VALLEJO (Peri/Tilton) just in case i die before we built a tenuous rapport put that knife back in the drawer – oh ho – ain’t no time like right now to be bored you know that song “look to the north?” i wrote it back in ‘84 shut the window and close the door – oh ho – much easier said than ignored i say “vuh-lay-oh” and you say “buy-a-ho” let’s call the whole thing off or act like we don’t know the grammys on my tv set sly dressed like he lost a bet a bleach-blonde mohawk on his head – oh ho – sang a verse, had to leave, so they said i say “vuh-lay-oh” and you say “buy-a-ho” let’s call the whole thing off or act like we don’t know out in vallejo where she lives to get to her i must cross the zampa bridge pay the toll and make a wish nothing left and i guess that’s all there is nothing left and i guess that’s all there is nothing left and i guess that’s all there is nothing left and i guess that’s all there is i guess that’s all there is that’s all there is She Is Free (Peri) I met her one night, the feeling was right And I know that I’ll see her again She lives up the coast and what I wonder the most Is she too far to be a close friend We walked on the beach, the waves didn’t reach But the sound I could feel in my heart The breeze was too cool but the moon almost full Made me warm when it came time to part Mystery deep in her eyes As green as the sea Her hair like the sand She smiles for me She is warm she is cold She is young she is old She is free She could be anyone else But she’s only herself For the moment she’s mine There is no sense of time But I’m alone, so alone And she’s not coming home with me She said I could phone, and feeling alone Well the next day I gave her a call She said she will visit, I asked her when is it She said sometime before next fall Mystery deep in her voice As soft as her hair Her laughter a breeze That is blowing somewhere She is there she is here She is far she is near She is free She could be anyone else But she’s only herself For the moment she’s mine There is no sense of time But I’m alone, so alone And she’s not coming home with me She is free She is free She is free Mystery deep in her eyes As green as the sea Her hair like the sand She smiles for me She is warm she is cold She is young she is old She is free She could be anyone else But she’s only herself For the moment she’s mine There is no sense of time But I’m alone, so alone And she’s not coming home with me I’m alone, so alone And she’s not coming home with me I’m alone, so alone Will she ever come home with me I’m In Blue (Peri) I’m in blue I’m looking for you Our eyes will align with the sign That our hearts give when feelings are true I’m in blue The feeling is new Our fingers will touch just as much As our smiles will allow us to do What is wrong with me now I dream the mornings away Pretend the rain is a song And think you hear what I say I’m in blue Until you come though I see what I’ve done as you run To a new place where love may renew What is wrong with me now I dream the mornings away Pretend the rain is a song And think you hear what I say I’m in blue I’m looking for you Our eyes will align with the sign That our hearts give when feelings are true Make Me Appreciate (Peri/Tilton) Make me discover make me agree Make me elaborate Make me surprised at your sympathies Make me appreciate Every open hand out of some necessity Pleading for somebodys touch I can understand I can see the same in me Am I expecting too much Make me some cake Marie Antoinette Make me fashionably late Make me aware or make me forget Make me appreciate Starving everywhere see it on the evening news Right between those fast food chain ads All the open hands that we watch from padded chairs Silent I reach out for you Every open hand every open pair of eyes Points to the lock on your door I don’t want to try to begin to understand Why it is made out of bone Make me get up to answer the phone Make me laugh make me cry Make me some coffee rain’s pourin’ down Make me another time Make me the key to get to your heart Make me the call you trace Make me remember why we’re apart Make me appreciate Again (Peri) One more day and I'm done I can't go on…need some fun I want to lie around in the sun And share my time with no one But what is this A forgotten kiss In a vague memory I will not ever see her again One more day till the war Nothing left to ignore People staring at the floor They don't feel loved anymore But who'd have known They'd stay alone Not a hope or a thought Just be passed and forgotten again They only cry And preoccupy With the words they can't say As the light of the day comes again Sky In Heaven (Peri) I cannot find what I’ve been looking for But I can dream of a light If I concentrate hard as I can Will the truth come to mind As I sleep through the night Will my friends still believe all my words Will they stay close to me Time is cruel when you’re walking alone May the steps to the end Show the life that will be As we all want to know what comes next We ask for our hearts to believe In a world at the top of the sky But is there a sky up in heaven I don’t know if there is such a place Fingers crossed on the way Nice to know that there’s somebody there To welcome me home Where I’d like to stay As we all want to know what comes next We ask for our hearts to believe In a world at the top of the sky But is there a sky up in heaven I don’t know if there is such a place Fingers crossed on the way If I concentrate hard as I can Will I understand all that I pray OLD BLUE CRABS (Peri/Tilton) old blue crabs you got the gift of gab you got the bunsen burner chemistry lab old blue crabs you’re dressed in olive drab you’re looking kinda flabby tuck in your tab go down town and live by the only rule: you gotta pay the fiddler to dance like a little fool old blue crabs they talk about skylab and when they were in rehab look at ‘em jab! old blue crabs one of them was stabbed by someone in (Peri/Tilton) I’m under lots of pressure I have so much to do It doesn’t give me pleasure Until I’m finally through With any undertaking Which always leads to more Like leaves in need of raking Like waves upon the shore You and I Are products of design If we try We’ll get it right some time Last night I had a vision Or maybe just a dream Must be a sleep condition It almost made me scream You walked upon the water And I upon the sand You were the reckless daughter And I was in a band You and I Are products of design If we try We’ll get it right some time You never care to hide your face But how you love to hide your grace There are no words to hold you back I guess we’re pretty much on track You and I Are products of design If we try We’ll get it right some time You and I Are products of design If we try We’ll get it right some time We’ll get it right some time We’ll get it right some time We’ll get it right some time We’ll get it right some time COLTER STONE WALTZ (Peri/Tilton) In the town of Tetonia, Idaho William Beard found the Colter Stone And his boy said he wasn’t alone And so these are the facts as they’re presently known On the left side says “1808” On the right is John Colter’s name It was found in a field, so they claimed And there were no other witnesses, so they maintained In the winter of ‘08 It couldn’t get any colder Jackson Hole and what’s now Yellowstone Were the places one would find John Colter As these things are traditionally done Mr. Beard sold the stone to someone Just like people who catch a home run And exchange it for autographs, money or fun In the winter of ‘08 It couldn’t get any colder Jackson Hole and what’s now Yellowstone Were the places one would find John Colter A long jaw and a fat bulbous nose Someone’s profile, I suppose He is over two hundred years old But he’s a different John Colter, than the one that I know Waltersville (Peri/Tilton) Going back to Waltersville An hour north of Hoover Hill Just a little city Kind of quaint and pretty Never hard to find some goodwill Going back to Waltersville Where people let the time stand still There’s a statue standing At the downtown landing Just a wait’n for the square to fill His name is Walter Scott He’s always on his spot A guy named Raleigh Rides the Main Street trolley Considered part of the Main Plot Going back to Waltersville Put some flowers on my windowsill And I won’t disparage As a horse-drawn carriage Takes a neighbor down to Cramer’s Mill Going back to Waltersville Not looking for some kind of thrill I am more than happy Though I may seem sappy I think I’ve paid my final bill A Disney kind of place A Whitman kind of grace Every kind of Walter Never needs to falter Keep a smile on your face A Disney kind of place A Whitman kind of grace A guy named Raleigh Rides the Main Street trolley With an everlasting smiley face Like I said (Peri) You can talk about the weather You can talk about your friends You can tell me all about your day Your boss and the new temps I can nod my head forever And say yeah m-hmm okay And I know you won’t stop talking ‘Til forever and a day Like I said I know I know I said I know I said I know Like I said I know I know I said I said I know I know I could tell you lots of stories But the essence may be lost So I’d rather sit and listen As the facts get crissed and crossed Can you see my fascination As I reach for the remote That’s okay just keep on talking But forgive if I don’t quote Like I said I know I know I said I know I said I know Like I said I know I know I said I said I know I know Dead End Job (Peri/Tilton) Another day of commuting Out to my boring job A desk, a phone, a computer I'm feeling like a blob You know, there's no stimulation Except when payday comes I get me no admiration I gotta pop some tums My stomach hurts and my headache pounds On and on and on There's nothing worse, nothing that i've found, Than a dead-end job I'd say the gist of the matter What's really got me steamed Is that i keep getting fatter Probably the krispy kremes Instead of oatmeal for breakfast And wash it down with joe My bad cholesterol's endless The doctor told me so My stomach hurts and my headache pounds On and on and on There's nothing worse, nothing that i've found, Than a dead-end job My stomach hurts and my headache pounds On and on and on There's nothing worse, nothing that i've found, Than a dead-end job I need to find something better I need to lose some pounds Can't wear my pullover sweater Can't get my belt around What i refer to as "belly" Although it's really "gut" Coworkers goin’ to the deli I'd really like to, but My stomach hurts and my headache pounds On and on and on My stomach hurts and my headache pounds On and on and on My stomach hurts and my headache pounds On and on and on There's nothing worse, nothing that i've found, Than a dead-end job Window To Willoughby (Peri) Look through to you To all you ever were And all you’d like to be Long days fast ways The life you knew before Just wanted more and more Look through to you To all you’d ever need It’s all you’d understand Outside slow ride There’s something waiting there Though you don’t know just where Window open Make the storm sun and warm Window closing Lose your way til next day Climb through to you To where you’ve never been It’s where you need to go Maybe you’ll see The life within your heart Was out there from the start Window open Make the storm sun and warm Window closing Lose your way til next day Mid July on the last train home Everyday alone with that railroad tone And that’s the place where time is free At the stop you’ll see there in Willoughby Only one place just for me Willoughby Only one place time is free In Willoughby All songs Copyright 2007, The Seventh
